Privacy Policy

How ParkScope and View from the Queue handle information across our website, community forum, and mobile apps.

Last Updated: January 20, 2026

1. Scope of this Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ParkScope and View from the Queue (hereinafter “we”, “us”, “our”) handle information when you use:

  • Our website and related pages (including informational pages and downloads).
  • Our community forum powered by phpBB (the “Forum”).
  • The ParkScope application on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS (the “App”).

Some parts of our platform (such as the Forum) require user-provided information to function. Other parts (such as the App) are designed to minimize collection and keep most processing on-device. Where Apple services (such as iCloud/CloudKit) are used, your data is handled through Apple’s systems under your Apple ID settings.

2. Data Collection via Cookies (Website & Forum)

When you browse the Forum, phpBB may create cookies on your device to support core functionality. Cookies are small text files stored by your browser.

phpBB Forum Cookies

  • Cookies that contain a user identifier and an anonymous session identifier to keep you signed in and maintain your session.
  • A cookie that helps remember which topics you have read to improve navigation and user experience.

We may use additional cookies on other parts of the website (outside of the phpBB Forum) for basic site functionality and performance. If we introduce non-essential cookies (for example, marketing cookies), we will update this policy and, where required, present appropriate choices.

3. Data Provided by You (Forum)

The primary way we collect information on the Forum is through what you submit directly. This can include:

  • Registering for an account (username, email address, and password).
  • Posts, messages, and other content you submit while logged in.
  • Optional profile information you choose to add.

Please note that content you post on the Forum may be visible to other users depending on your forum privacy and visibility settings.

4. Your Account, Security, and Control (Forum)

Mandatory Information

A Forum account generally includes a username, a password, and a valid email address.

Password Security

Passwords are stored using one-way hashing by the forum software. We recommend you do not reuse the same password across multiple websites. We will never legitimately ask you for your password.

If you forget your password, you can use the “I forgot my password” process on the Forum to regain access using your account email address.

Account Controls

Depending on Forum configuration, you may be able to control profile visibility, notification preferences, and other options within your account settings.

5. ParkScope App (iOS, iPadOS, macOS)

ParkScope is built to be privacy-conscious. The App does not require you to create a ParkScope account, and it does not sell personal information or use advertising trackers. Most features operate on-device. Optional Apple services may be used depending on your settings and entitlements.

Location Information (Optional)

If you grant permission, ParkScope may use location services to detect when you are at or near supported theme parks, automatically track park visits, and improve queue/session features. Location is used for functionality you enable (such as automatic detection) and is not used for advertising.

Notifications (Optional)

If you enable notifications, ParkScope can send local alerts and Live Activity updates related to features you configure (for example: park status, attraction changes, or session tracking). You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.

iCloud Sync (CloudKit Private Database — Optional)

If iCloud is enabled for ParkScope, the App may store user-generated data such as park visits, app settings, and notification rules/state in your private iCloud container using Apple CloudKit. This data is associated with your Apple ID and is handled through Apple’s CloudKit services.

Anonymous Telemetry (CloudKit Public Database — Optional / Best-Effort)

ParkScope also logs limited, anonymous telemetry to help improve aggregate app features (for example: visit duration totals by park/day and basic ride counts). These telemetry events are stored in ParkScope’s CloudKit public database.

Telemetry records include only non-identifying fields such as: event type (e.g., visit ended / attraction ridden), park identifier (slug), a UTC day bucket (YYYY-MM-DD), an event timestamp, and optional duration or attraction ID. Telemetry does not include your name, email, precise location history, advertising identifiers, or a ParkScope user account.

Important: Telemetry written to a CloudKit public database is not treated as private per-user storage in the same way as iCloud sync data. Public databases are intended for app-wide data.

Your Choices

  • Disable Location Services for ParkScope in iOS Settings to stop location-based features.
  • Disable Notifications in iOS Settings to stop alerts and Live Activities.
  • Disable iCloud for ParkScope (or sign out of iCloud) to prevent CloudKit syncing and CloudKit-based telemetry from being sent.

If you are not signed into iCloud, ParkScope will not be able to save CloudKit telemetry and will drop those events.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We do not run third-party advertising networks inside ParkScope. Where Apple services are used (such as iCloud/CloudKit), data is transmitted to and stored within Apple’s infrastructure as part of providing those services.

7. Data Retention

Forum content and account data are retained as long as the Forum is active or as needed for legitimate operational purposes. App data stored locally remains on your device unless you remove it, uninstall the App, or clear it within the App (where available). iCloud/CloudKit data retention follows Apple’s service behavior and your iCloud settings.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or operational updates. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will change when updates are published.
